This is Dee. On February 5, 2018, when she was 30 years old, she was diagnosed with Stage 2A Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. She started chemotherapy in March, determined to finish her clinicals to so she could receive her nursing degree from Midlands Technical College in August of that year. In May, her younger sister dropped everything and moved in with Dee to help care for her while underwent treatment and had surgery. On July 23, 2018, a drunk driver hit her sister, breaking both legs in multiple places, and fracturing her knee and right ankle. She had to have surgery to place pins in her feet and rods in both legs. She was hospitalized for almost 3 weeks and had to have a blood transfusion. In order to take care of her sister and herself, she had to postpone school until after her unilateral mastectomy in September of 2018. Dee was able to return to work on November 12th and in order to return to school, she had to pay for class out of her own pocket and wait to receive financial aid in January of this year. Unfortunately, due to the government shutdown, the school is not sure when she will receive this money. To complicate matters, on January 15th, she learned that the small business she worked for would be closing on January 18th. Dee is still receiving chemotherapy treatments every 3 weeks, and her sister, although improving daily, still needs a walker and has physical therapy 2-3 days a week. DEE NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!
